Growing sweet potatoes

I'd like to grow some sweet potatos....can they be grown in a raised
bed (in Provo Utah)? Any ideas where to find sweet potato seed in Utah
county?

Sweet potatoes need a longer warm growing season than we have in Northern Utah, so you shouldn't expect much.

If you take sweet potatoes from lyour produce section and cut out the eyes, then plant those in your greenhouse or window sill in March (or April, since March is past), you should be able to improve your chances for a crop by planting healthy seedlings by the end of May when it's warm enough to put them out in the garden.

If you have an area inside your home that gets sun most of the day, you can start the sweet potato plants inside and then move outside as the weather permits. Simply fill some containers with soil and plant your sweet potato slips. Keep in mind that most growers will not ship the sweet potato plants to your area until it is time for outside planting, so you will have to notify them of the earlier ship date. Also keep in mind that you do not want to use a container with drain holes, or you will have water on your floors. I have included the links to a couple of articles that may interest you.
